Peeling Away the Beauty is another awesome album by alternative, indie rockers, Daniel Bon and the Future Ghosts! The album starts off with the airy instrumental, "Apples," and ends with the full ethereal-sounds of "Where Did You Go," complete with vocal harmonies. "All of These Things" is a hard rock/alternative tune with an infectious chorus. "Loud Cloud" is musically tight with a cool groove and fast breaks. While the music of Daniel Bon is predominantly grunge-influenced, each song on the album sounds different and his songwriting style is quite diverse. The hard rock ballad, "Turn It All Around," is mixed with electronic pop, and the modern Beatles-esque, "Baba Ghanoush," has lots of harmonic modulations combined with a floating piano line. "Sidetrack Mind" has a Modest Mouse feel rhythmically but rocks harder, while "Vicious Mission" melds melodic hard rock with a Middle Eastern-sounding guitar hook. The bittersweet, "Karma," is an acoustic ballad that highlights Daniel's considerable vocal range. Perhaps the most radio-friendly track on the album is "Arms of Restless Sleep," which is a rock ballad with an incredibly catchy melody. Overall, an outstanding album!!!
